Do you want make a small bedroom look bigger but can't fathom out how to achieve this? Are you pulling your hair out because everything you try just ends up making your bedroom looking cramped? If you're sat nodding your head then you're in the right place. Here at Beds On Legs we've got all the tricks of the trade and we're here to guide you. From clever storage pieces to considered décor you'll soon have a small bedroom to proud of.
In a tiny bedroom you need to maximise every inch of space available. When every inch makes a difference you need to carefully consider the type of bed that's going into that space. Indeed, you may think that the only option for a small bedroom is a single bed but this isn't necessarily the case. Whilst a single bed is great for young children, if you want to use the bedroom as a guest room or even a teenagers bedroom then a single bed probably won't cut it. Luckily, there is the small double bed to fill this gap.
Many people are aware of single, double and even king size beds. However, most people aren't aware that you can also get a small double bed. So what is a small double bed? Well, as the name suggests it's smaller than a double but not a single. In fact, a small double is exactly six inches narrower than a double whilst the length remains the same. Indeed, in a bedroom with smaller proportions, these six inches can make a big difference! Furthermore, a small double bed can trick your mind into thinking that a room is bigger than it is. This is because we associate a bigger bed with a bigger space. Indeed, it's difficult for your eye to discern a double bed from a small double. In fact, this is a trick that designers use in show homes to make potential buyers think a bedroom is bigger than it is!
Whilst the obvious colour to make a small bedroom look bigger is white, many people find this a little too stark. However, whilst bright white can feel a little clinical, we would recommend keeping your walls pale. This is because lighter colours help to bounce light around a make a bedroom appear bigger. Furthermore, we would recommend painting all the walls in the same colour as this gives a seamless look. If you find that a little dull, then don't panic as you can add interest with pictures and décor.
In a small room of any kind it is imperative that you keep all clutter to a minimum. A room jammed full of all sorts of curiosities can make a space feel chaotic and cramped. Whilst you don't want a stark bedroom, you should aim to keep decorative accessories to a minimum. If you're struggling with storage space then you should take a look at our Ottoman beds. These beds are great at utilising the no man's land under the bed and can help keep everything hidden away.
Something as simple as hanging a mirror is a great way to reflect light and hence make a bedroom look bigger. Don't be afraid to large here as the bigger the mirror, the more light will bounce around.
