How To Make The Most Of Your Guest Bedroom

The humble guest bedroom is often the most neglected bedroom in the house. All to often it becomes the 'dumping' ground for all manner of things. Furthermore, it is often the most underutilised space. But we're here to tell you that it doesn't need to be that way. With a few clever design tricks, the guest bedroom can be a vital addition to the home.

    Invest In A Guest Bed

Often the guest bedroom has more restrained proportions than other bedrooms. This can have you scratching your head when it comes to choosing a bed. You want to be able to accommodate two people, but if you put a double bed in then there will be no room for anything else. Enter the guest bed. The space saving hero that can fullfill all your needs.

Essentially a guest bed is comprised of two single beds. The main bed, that only takes up the space of a single bed, and a trundle bed. The trundle bed tucks neatly under the main bed so when not in use a guest bed only takes up a minimal amount of space. Some of our guest beds even come as day beds. This gives them another feather in their cap as they can be used as an extra seating space.

    Consider A Small Double Bed

If you don't fancy the idea of a guest bed then you might want to consider a small double bed. Indeed, a small double bed can still comfortably accommodate two average size people. A small double bed is less wide by 6 inches. Indeed, this can make all the difference when you are trying to maximise your space.

If space is limited then we would recommend choosing a divan style bed. This is because bed frames can be somewhat wider than the mattress. A divan bed has the advantage that its floor footprint is often the same as the mattress (120 cms x 190 cms). Furthermore with these style beds you can incorporate storage either in the form of drawers or Ottoman storage.

    Incorporate Storage

As previously mentioned, guest bedrooms often become the 'overflow' room for the rest of the house. If in doubt then put it in the guest bedroom! So if you want to turn this room into a fully functioning bedroom then you might be worried about where you are going to put all your 'excess' baggage.

Luckily we have just the answer. Over recent years we have come to specialise in storage beds. In fact, we would argue that we've become rather fascinated with these beds. Firstly, you can pick a divan bed that has up to four drawers. Secondly, if you really want to maximise storage then you should consider an Ottoman bed. These fabulous beds have up to four times the amount of storage as a standard four drawer divan. Yep Ottoman beds, really are the kings of storage.

    Ottoman Beds

So as you can see there are numerous ways you can make the most of your guest bedroom. From guest beds to storage beds we've got a bed that's longing to make the most of your guest bedroom. There really is no reason for the guest room to be the shrinking violet of the house!
