So you're in the market for a new bed and you've started to scour the shops and the internet for the right one. Your Pinterest boards are awash with pictures of beds and you're starting to feel like your never going to make your mind up. Indeed, finding the perfect bed is a big deal. Let's be honest you spend up to one third of your life in bed so you need to get it right. However, with so many options out there it can feel like trying to find a needle in a haystack. You may love the look of a super king size sleigh bed but unless you've got ample floor space this isn't going to be the perfect bed for you. In fact the size of the bedroom can have a massive impact on the style and size of bed that is available to you.
If you have a palatial bedroom then the world is your oyster. However, if you've got limited space you really need to think hard about what will work. You also need to consider what other furniture is in the room.. If you have fitted wardrobes for example you need to allow at least a metre from the end of the bed to the wardrobes. It's no good having plenty of storage if you can't access it!
Furthermore not all double beds are created equal. We say this because a double framed bed can take up a lot more space than a divan style bed. For instance a fabric sleigh bed could be two foot longer than a divan bed. So grab your tape measure and plot where the bed is going to go. Indeed the perfect bed for your bedroom might not be the right one for the guest room. Most people prefer to spend less money on a spare bed as it will most likely only be used occasionally. Furthermore, the spare bedroom may be smaller so you may be limited again. You might wanted to consider a smaller bed for the spare room such as a four foot bed. Or if space is really limited then you might want to think about a guest bed.
Unfortunately money doesn't grow on trees . Therefore the majority of us need to consider what our budget for the perfect bed. Again deciding on the purpose of the bed can have an impact on your budget. Although it is tempting to splurge on a bed frame and compromise on the mattress we would encourage you to proportion a healthy part of your budget on the mattress.
