If you’re looking to create a swoon worthy master bedroom then there are a few things that you’ll need to put in place. Whether your master bedroom is a cosy retreat or a large open space you can always create a welcoming sanctuary from the outside world. Without a doubt the master bedroom is often a space where a lot us spend the majority of time in the home. Therefore it pays to spend a little time and effort creating the perfect space. Read on for some inspiration on how to get the bedroom that you’ve always wanted. For more inspiration you can always visit our Pinterest page.
Without a doubt, your bed should take centre stage in your bedroom. Therefore, it pays to take your time and carefully pick the right bed for your room. When picking your bed you should consider the overall theme of your bedroom. For example, if you want a modern looking bedroom then your bed should reflect this. This will mean picking something with clean lines that reflects a sense of simplicity. Currently our fabric beds are particularly suited to contemporary themes. You can view our full range here.
As well as picking the right bed you need to ensure that you a select a suitable mattress. It’s no good having an all singing all dancing bed if your mattress is uncomfortable. As you spend up to a third of your life in bed then you should invest in the best mattress you can afford. When picking a mattress you might feel bamboozled by the amount of choice. Do you go for an open coil mattress, pocket sprung, memory foam or a combination of systems? Again this largely depends on needs. To find out how to pick the best mattress, you can read our buying guide here
When creating a master bedroom you will need to consider your storage options. Whether you go for fitted or free standing furniture will depend on a number of reasons. Indeed there are pros and cons to both. If you are looking to maximise your storage, then fitted wardrobes are a must. However, fitted furniture can be expensive and you can't take it with you when you move. The advantages of free standing furniture is that it often costs a lot less and can be moved freely. The draw back is that free standing furniture is often more limited on the storage it provides.
You can further maximise your storage by investing in a bed that offers you extra space. For example you can purchase a divan bed with drawers. If you really want to go all out then you should consider an Ottoman bed. These nifty beds offer up to four times the amount of storage as a four drawer divan. This is because they make use of every inch of space under the bed.
The icing on the cake in your bedroom has to be the décor you chose. How you decorate your bedroom can largely influence the feel of your bedroom. If you want to create a soothing bedroom we would recommend choosing neutral colours such as greys, creams and whites. However, if you want to create a cosy nook then why not experiment with moody navy blues and darker shades of grey.
Finally you will need to dress your master bedroom with the finishing touches. This includes window dressings, bedding and ornaments, In the bedroom it is best to adopt the attitude that less is more. In your bedroom you should be aiming to creating a cohesive and uncluttered room. This is because this can help create a soothing a relaxing atmosphere.
