Getting a good night's sleep is probably the most important thing that you can do for your health. Without a doubt, a good night's sleep is essential for physical and mental health. Even more so than diet and exercise. However, getting some serious zzz's in can often be an uphill struggle. According to one study, highlighted by the NHS here, one third of us will struggle with sleep at any one time!
However, it isn't all doom and gloom. Indeed, there are numerous things that you can put in place to get that illusive good night's sleep. What's more, most of them are free to implement. Here, at Beds On Legs, we've compiled a list of things that may help get you off to the land of nod more easily.
As much as we love technology as much as the next person we also understand the havoc it can wreak on our sleep patterns. Therefore our golden rule for getting a good night's sleep has to be to walk away from technology at least an hour before bed. To keep temptation out of your way then we would advise trying to keep your phone out of your bedroom.
Another top tip is to keep your bedroom free from clutter. Without a doubt, a messy bedroom can lead to a chaotic mind. In turn, this is not conducive to a good night's sleep. Your motto for your bedroom should be 'everything has it's place and a place for everything'. If you've got more gear than a department store then now is the time to have a good turf out. However, if you've streamlined your belongings and are still struggling for space then why not invest in an Ottoman bed. These nifty beds can store up to four times the amount as a standard four drawer divan. For all our Ottomans just click here.
Whilst there may not be a lot of sunshine around at this time of year, investing in window dressings that block out the light are still worth their weight in gold. This is because we can still be disturbed by street lighting. Numerous studies have shown that light pollution can be a huge cause of disrupted sleep and insomnia.
If your mattress has seen better days and it's not supporting you whilst you sleep then replacing it has to be a priority. Without a doubt, your mattress is the most important factor of your bed. After all, it is the mattress that you sleep on. Indeed, an unsuitable mattress can make getting to sleep a real nightmare! For a guide on how to select the right mattress just click here.
