    Sleep Apps For Better Sleep

Sleep apps are a fantastic way of helping you to catch some extra ZZZ'S. Let's be honest millions of us are rather partial to a good app so why not use one that helps you sleep? Indeed, getting enough sleep has to be one of the most important things you can do for your health. However, hoards of people struggle to get their quota in. Maybe you've already tried different sleep aids from counting sheep to over the counter sleeping tablets. Yet despite your best efforts you still feel like a character out of The Walking Dead that no amount of coffee will fix.

Without a doubt, technology can often be to a contributing factor to lack of sleep. Scrolling through your Insta feed until 4 am isn't exactly helpful in aiding good sleep. However, sleep apps are the antithesis to all the negatives aspects of technology. Here at Beds On Legs we will take a look at some of the sleep apps on the market and hope to help you float of to the land of nod in a blink of the eye.

    Headspace

You may have already heard of Headspace and had it labelled as a meditation app. Which of course it is. Whilst meditation is a great thing to practice for for helping you deal with the stresses of life it is also a great sleeping aid. Meditating before you hit the sack is a great way of preparing for the big snooze. What's more, it is science backed. So if you think this is just alternative mumbo jumbo then think again.

Indeed, meditating has been proven to lower the heart rate, soothe the parasympathetic nervous system and encourage slower breathing. In lay man terms, meditating is just a really cool way of helping you chill out. A chilled mind means you're much more likely to sleep. What's more, the more you practice the better it gets. We think that makes this little app a bit of a winner. To check it out visit their website here.

    Rain Rain Sleep Sounds

If certain sounds help you to relax then this app could be right up your street. From rain, to laundry machines and aeroplanes there are oodles of sounds for you to pick from. The reasons why noise can help you sleep are varied. White noise enables sleep as is helps to drown out noises that might interfere with sleep. Whilst droning noises, such as rain, help to reduce alertness. Furthermore repetitive noises are a fantastic way of settling the brain in to a mellow rhythm. Check out this free app here.

    Calm

If you thought bedtime stories were just for kids then think again. It has been proven that bedtime stories are a great way of soothing the mind and helping you get off to sleep. Calm offers a wealth of bedtime stories all read out by people with soothing voices. Furthermore, this nifty app also offers multiple meditations aimed at promoting sleep. For more information on this app then visit their website here.

We've only covered a small number of sleep apps that are available on the market. The world of sleep apps really is your oyster. If you try one app and don't get on with it then don't quit and try another. Sleep apps are like best friends, once you've found the right one for you, you'll never want to let it go.
